In KL for exam..the BSSE: Basic Surgical Science Examination..

Went to University Malaya Medical Centre at 7am where the exam is going to be held..
The exam (part 1) started at 8 am and finished at 12 mid day..
this was please..
There were 53 candidates registered for the exam,,each was given a registration number. Mine was 007.

10 candidates didn't turn up for exam (don't know why),,left only 43 candidates.

The result released at 2 pm the same day. Out of 43 candidates, only 17 candidates passed the part 1 exam and were allowed to continue the exam (part 2) the next day..
The no 007 was not on the list..

Trip to Kuala Lumpur

This is my first trip report on any airplane. This report is exclusively for a trip to KL on 7th October 2009. Any feedbacks are greatly appreciated.

Routing: Sandakan to Kuala Lumpur

Capacity (J/Y):14/128

Load: J class (business): don't know

Y class: 95%

Seat: Economy, 27F

Background and introduction.

SDK to KUL is one of my routine traveled route. Away from home in KUL make me have to travel his route about once in 4 months, sometimes even more.MAS and its main rival AIRASIA are the only carriers serving this route. Before this MAS had only 1 flight from KUL to SDK (vice versa), with a transit at Kota Kinabalu. Actually MAS had introduced a direct flight in the year 2005, but it was stopped because of poor yields as compared to AIRASIA.

But this is now a history, starting Mac this year MAS has reintroduced a direct flight with a competitive airfares (its really cheap,,sometimes cheaper than the low cost carrier).
And to a surprise, MAS added second direct flight starting last month. (Off course,, cheaper airfares with a 5 star airlines,, who will refused to grab the opportunity).

The beginning..

I wake up late this morning,,at 6 am. Its not the alarm bell that woke me up ...but its the nature call. I had a loose motion and "sakit perut"...it's must be the chicken curry i ate last night.

Ohh this is not good as I've to travel to KL today.
Settling that i continue sleeping and woke up at 8.30 am, and immediately rush to the bus stand.

The journey...

Hoping for a saving, i waited for a bus to the airport. None has arrived. It's almost 9.30am, and i had another 1 hour for check in.

Then, without much thinking (i have to) , i took a taxi to the airport.
What a surprise..the taxi driver is my nurse husband.
Exactly, at 9.45am, i was at the airport.
Check in counter was full.. its going to be a full flight today.

I was greeted by a malay lady. She looks nice...with the MAS kebaya and a green tudong..

Check in was smooth.

Fine..I'm going to KUL today..This is my ic and Enrich card member..

Ok..Only 1 bag??
Ya..1 bag only..Can i request a seat at the last row??? then she start checking my id and printed the boarding pass.

Alright,,this is your boarding pass..and seat 27F,,just near the toilet..

Each time i traveled, i always asked a last row at the back of the aircraft...Don't asked me why..it's just my personal preferences.

Sandakan airport..
Looking at this airport was awesome..it simple but looking the roof top was nice..I don't think there are others airport in Malaysia like this.

Straight away, i went for immigration clearance. The immigration officer was a malay lady with a white tudong. I gave a salam,,and handed over the document.

Going to KL.????..
Yes,,i replied.

She handed over back the document and i went to boarding hall. It was full and there was MAS flight to Kota Kinabalu. It was delayed, as its almost 10.30am and the passengers have not boarded the flight yet.

I haven't had any breakfast and i went to the cafe. Nothing much food to choose and i just had a cup of coffee. Then, someone called my name...

Bond, what are you doing here???
I'm going to KL lah,,got exam tomorrow..
Ohhh..we are in the same flight..
Oh..really???? why you didn't go back to KL earlier..
I went to climb mount kinabalu a few days ago. managed to climb to a top..very tired la..just arrived at sandakan, last night...you should go climbing la BOND..
Me?? Climbing a mountain???...you must be joking.

This is my colleague who got sick on second day of syawal and i have to replaced her.


Exactly at 11am, boarding started. I boarded last.

Upon boarding, I was greeted by a chinese stewardess .

Going to KL..???
Yes..I replied..
This is my raya vacation.
What??? After 2 weeks of raya , now only go back to celebrate raya??
Ya...what to do..i'm working during raya..
Ohh..thats pity!!! Anyway Selamat Hari Raya!!!!
After nice small chat.i headed to my seat. Then another surprise..i met a MAS steward ..who was my ex house mate during uni time. I haven't met him almost 10 years..
He showed me my seat.
As usual, the chief cabin crew made welcome announcement and follow with the usual routine safety demo.

The aircraft taxiing the runway at 11.30am and a minute after that we were on air.

After an hour, the inflight services started. The good thing of sitting at the last row was, i was first to be served.
Some where over ?Kinabatangan..
There were 2 choices for lunch: a chicken beriani or fried rice with sambal udang. I choose the later.
Meal..
It was served hot and delicious. Soon the usual drinks service starts: an offer of hot drinks or juices..
After had the meal, i went to the galley and met my ex-housemate. He introduced me to his colleague, Miss Annabelle. We just chatting about what we are doing right now..He has been with MAS almost 5 years.
My ex-house mate, an accountancy dropout student, joined MAS five years ago.

The 2 hours and 45 mins journey was smooth, except some minor turbulence over south china sea.

At 1.50pm the captain made an announcement that we were descending. We landed safely at 2.10pm.

Most of us have their own favorite songs. Me to , i like this song very much: Alone Again Naturally.
Most people will fall asleep after listening to this song...but not me..I'll just listen it again and again..
Somehow.this song is spooky and i agree with Mr Gilbert..we are going alone someday...deep buried 6 feet below.

PINK OCTOBER

This month is pink October month.
It is in conjunction with Breast Awareness Campaign, "early detection saves lives".
I'm supposed to write this entry earlier but it was delayed as i'm looking ways to color my blog to pink.
Unfortunately, i don't know how to change the background to pink...

This were my patients with advanced breast cancer. They died after the treatment. Treating breast cancer is my passion. It is interesting and challenging. Actually, i really want to tell a stories regarding patients with breast cancer..somehow i lost that interest..ya the exam is killing me.

CERITA DONGENG

I was really stress up...so decided to tell my fellow blog readers a "cerita dongeng"

nenek kebayan nak mulakan cerita

Nun jauh disana, ada satu kerajaan Melayu zaman purba kala. Kerajaan ini dinamakan Marang Merapu Kepunden Marang Skeper (atau MMKMS).

Kerajaan ini sangatlah masyur seantero asia tenggara.

Ia dinaungi oleh Sultan Aminur Rashid...rakyat rakyat jelata amatlah menyanjungi tuanku,,kerana baginda adalah raja yang adil dan saksama. Baginda dikurniakan 4 orang puteri yang sungguh jelita. Dan ke-empat empat meraka adalah saudara kembar.

Tetapi, baginda amatlah bergusar hati. Kerana setiap malam purnama, asyik mengenangkan ke empat empat puteri itu.

Dan, baginda juga sudah terlalu uzur...dan sudah tiba masanya baginda perlu menyerahkan takhta kepada salah seorang puteri-puteri baginda.

Tapi..bagaimana mahu memilih salah seorang dari empat untuk memiliki takhta?? Mereka semua adalah kembar, jika baginda memilih yang sulung , pasti yang lain bermasam muka.

Arakian, baginda Sultan pun mengadakan perbincangan bersama bendahara.

Bendahara yang arif dan bijaksana mencadangkan agar diadakan ujian. Puteri yang lulus ujian itu, haruslah ditabal sebagai permaisuri kerajaan MMKMS.

Lantas, tuanku Sultan menitahkan puteri-puteri itu menghadap baginda:

Anakanda2 ku sekelian,,
Ayahanda sudah tua..Sudah masanya ayahanda menturunkan takhta.
Salah seorang dari kamu akan dipilih sebagai permaisuri kerajaan kita.
Tetapi..sebelum itu..anakanda2 semua perlu menjalani ujian. Barangsiapa yang berjaya akan ditabalkan sebagai permaisuri..

Puteri2: Baiklah ayahanda, ape ujian iteww???

Ujian nya begini...Setiap anakanda akan diberi segenggam biji benih. Balik la ke kamar masing2 dan carilah pasu dan tanah. Semaikanlah biji benih itu selama 7 purnama.
Barangsiapa yang berjaya menyemai biji benih itew akan diistiharkan pemenang dan ditabalkan sebagai permaisuri.

Maka, bergelimpangan lah lari kesemua puteri-puteri itu.

Setelah 7 purnama, puteri-puteri itu pun menghadap baginda Sultan.

Anakanda ku sekelian, sudah siapkah ujian yang ayahanda berikan.

Sudah ayahanda!!! jawab puteri-puteri itu serentak.

baiklah puteri 1,,apa hasilnya.

Ayahanda, anakanda berjaya menyemai pokok bunga ros..kata puteri no 1.


Puteri 2 macam mana?

Ayahanda , anakanda berjaya menyemai pokok bunga melur,,cantik tak???
kata puteri no 2.

Puteri 3 macam mana??

Ayahanda, anakanda berjaya menyemai pokok bunga violet...cantik sekali....kata puteri no 3.

Kemudian, ketiga-tiga puteri itu melompat kegirangan..

kita menang..kita menang!!!!

Namun, Sultan Aminur Rashid berduka cita..lalu ditanya puteri bongsu..

Anakandaku ,, macam mana pula??
Puteri Bongsu.
Ayahanda...puas anakanda semai benih ni...satu haram pokok pun tak tumbuh.
berbagai -bagai tanah anakanda try..berpasu-pasu dah cuba..masih tak hidup..


kemudian,,dengan rasa kegirangan Sultan Aminur Rashid mengumumkan puteri bongsu telah lulus ujian itu dan ditabalkan sebagai permaisuri....

SOALAN ESEI: KESUSASTERAAN MELAYU.
Kenapakah puteri bongsu lulus ujian itu walaupun beliau gagal menyemai biji benih yang diberikan ayahandanya??? (20 markah).

Jawapan:.
Semua benih-benih yang Sultan Aminur Rashid bagi kepada semua anakanda2 nya dah rosak..Buat la macam mana pun ...memang tak boleh semai.
Puteri 1, 2 dan 3 menipu.
Puteri 4 jujur dan cakap benih tu tak menjadi.
Ujian ini adalah untuk menguji kejujuran ..salah satu ciri utama untuk menjadi pemerintah yang baik.
So moral of the story??? jadi org jujur ye..jangan la nak tipu-tipu.

VICIOUS CYCLE

I'm in stress..
when i'm in stress.i will just sleeping, eating, sleeping and eating..this is a good example of vicious cycle.
when i'm eating..i'm full and happy...and sleepy, this make me want to sleep more..after i'm wake up from sleep..then i will continue eating..and the cycle continues..
the end result??? i've gained weight..now reaching beyond critical limit..ie 65 kg.

why i'm is so stress up??

the main factor is i have to take exam soon, the Basic Surgical Science Examination (BSSE). This is an exam conducted by Malaysian College of Surgeons and Academy of Medicine Malaysia.
This is an entry examination before joining master programme. If i pass this exam, i will have a guarantee ticket to join a master programme...a door to be surgeon.
If i didn't make it, i've to take another exam somewhere mac next year.

BSSE...is the most toughest entry exam in the country. Last year, 60 candidates from all over the country took the exams, only 4 pass,,,,thats mean passing rate of only 6%..

The past 2 weeks i was given a "study" weeks. i didn't study...i was sleeping, eating, sleeping and eating.

I really regret didn't follow my brother to Lahad Datu today..
at least i'm away from sandakan and doing something that meaningfull..
