BURRHOLE



Burrhole is a surgical procedure where a hole is drill into a human skull to expose the dura mater (selaput otak.). It is a common life saving procedure and its important in treating a condition like subdural haemorrhage. (pendarahan pada selaput otak.). This is not a modern procedure, as it was dated back from 6500 BC. At that time, burrhole was practiced as a cure for various ailments, including seizures and skull fracture.
Recently, i had performed a burrhole in a patient with subdural haemorrhage.
The techniques as follows:

(Notis: Identiti pesakit telah dirahsiakan, dan bahagian muka pesakit telah dihitamkan).


Getting ready: the equipment (sorry, gambar menegak).


Marking the incision site. (garisan yang tidak putus).


Cleaning the area with an antiseptic solution.


Covering the area with a sterile towel (draping).


Giving a local anaesthesia (bius setempat).


Making an incision over the SCALP (kulit kepala).


Exposing the skull.




Lets start drilling..

Sucking out the blood clots after incising the dura mater.
